Pooley's Reopens as the Snug
Pooley's bar in Messingham reopened at Easter as the Snug after being closed for around two years. Former licensee Neil Poole has stepped back from the business after some recent health issues. After a sympathetic makeover and a change of name, the new licensee is Kate Boswell, who used to be mine host at the Horn Inn in the village. They offer two changing real ales (three hopefully when things settle down), plus keg beers, quality wines and spirits. Real ales featured on our visits have included Batemans XXXB, Adnams Ghost Ship, Taylor's Landlord and Beartown Kodiak. The premises now allow in families with young children and is dog friendly. The opening few days were enthusiastically received by local customers and those from further afield. Limited opening hours to start with on four days per week. Initially these were: Thurs 5 pm - midnight, Fri 4 pm - midnight, Sat 3 pm - midnight, Sun Noon - 11 pm
